How He Rolls

I love to sing.  Some of you probably wish that I would stop doing that all together, but today, I just can’t seem to stop.

Last night, after only 9 days on the market, our house, our home…sold.  Yes, we still have to tackle all of the normal formalities, inspections and procedures that follow until the deal is sealed on closing day…but our house sold.  Crystal and I are just floored over God’s faithfulness…as if we needed more confirmation that we are where we are supposed to be.

And so I keep singing.

Over the past several months we have been consistently praying that God bring someone who needs our home…going all the way back to June of last year, before we knew if we would even be moving, we prayed.  And when the “where” emerged, we prayed all the more.  This house has been a blessing to us and many friends, family, and even strangers who have needed to a place to stay for days, weeks, or months.  God has used it as a place of refuge and rest…a place of celebration and worship.

Its easy to be crazy excited about the sale (trust me, we are), and yes, in a sense, a burden has been lifted…but I don’t even feel like I’ve been carrying a burden to begin with.  He has had this thing the whole time.  We’ve been trusting God would provide just as He always has.  And as jazzed as I am, I’m not really surprised.

It’s just how He rolls.

He leaves no room for anyone else to take credit. God does not share glory.

Its times like these where we more fully appreciate His unswerving provision and faithfulness.  Its times like these that we must remember to celebrate the One who blesses more than the blessing.  And its times like these that serve as standing stones, reminding us that He is the only One worth following…even into the unknown.

So I’m just gonna keep singing, remembering that the bigger blessing is that He loves me enough to listen like I’m the only one in the world singing Him songs.

  1. I like the phrase you used: “it’s times like these that serve as standing stones”. The standing stones of God’s obvious provision are so needed to help us when it looks as though He is not providing at all. God doesn’t have to do anything for us, which makes it so much sweeter that He gives us these stones to help us to trust when we can’t see what He is doing.
