Boats and Big Bodies…of Water

Have you ever spent money on something or made what you thought was a major investment into something thinking, “This had better be absolutely mind-blowingly awesome!”?  How many times after you make that purchase have you found yourself saying, “Wow, I got a deal, totally worth it…I would have spent way more money on that.”?  You never have that feeling after eating Chuck E Cheese pizza…or graduating college…or going to see most of the movies made these days.  For example, The Divinci Code…wow, with such a controversial topic, it carried so much potential, yet it managed to be quite a uniquely boring movie therefore holding the title in my life for being the only major motion picture I have ever fallen asleep during in a theater (tangent).

Well, Crystal and I just went on a cruise for the first time to celebrate our 10 year anniversary…yup, 10 years!!!!!  It took a long time to save up enough to pull it all off.  Thank you Craigslist, Slingshot57 iTunes revenue, and family and friends for chippin’ in!  We had an absolute blast floating around on a big boat in the Caribbean!

We wanted to make a big deal of what we think is a really big deal…so we did!

Every day was filled with tons of new, exciting experiences and memories!  We snorkled with stingrays and saw a barracuda bigger than Crystal, wrangled crazy yet adorable monkeys, climbed a Mayan pyramid in 110 degree heat, hit some beautiful beaches, chased some lizards, soaked/fried in the Caribbean sun (Crystal is so brown), went hiking and zip-lining through the jungle, cave-tubing, enjoyed late night strolls on the top deck dreaming of what’s next, ate countless fantastic meals and even made some really good friends that we honestly expect to see again…seriously.

The timing of this adventure could not have been more perfect.  We needed this.  I am a big fan of my wife and not having to share her with anyone, even our beautiful children, for a week was incredible…it was so worth it.

Boats and big bodies of water may not be for everyone…but for me and my Criz…it was a perfect way to make a big deal of our marriage…and for that, I am thankful!
