Beautiful…On All Accounts

I can be an emotional guy.  Actually, I am a very emotional guy.  Deal with it…I have to.  But this last weekend was absolutely incredible.  February was a stupid busy month packed full of all kinds of things…some good, some great, some not so great, all of which exhausting.  This last weekend was a super cool way to end it, the month that is.

On Friday night, Axiom lead worship at All Campus Worship here at the U of I.  It was awesome to be a part of it, to lead a whole bunch of people in worship, to sing beautiful songs,  and to hear so many voices lifted up to their King…I just feel blessed.

After ACW I zipped back to Axiom for a late night practice with Slingshot57.  I think in all the busyness of everything I greatly under estimated the emotional results of reuniting with dear friends to share some songs again.  Its been 3 years since we have played together or performed as Slingshot57, and amazingly enough, everything just seemed natural.  Muscle memory, I suppose.  I was overwhelmed with joy to see them and play songs that mean something to us…together.

We were preparing to perform for the Axiom Coffee House to benefit the Romania missions team I am leading this May to work with Forget Me Not Ministries.  That brings us to Saturday.  It was a huge day of orchestrating all the details that come with hosting an event and performing at it as well.  When the evening came and the benefit got under way, over 300 people came through the doors.

I was humbled to see so many old friends, many of whom drove several hours to hear us play only a handful of songs.  I was inspired to see my Romania team work so hard to create such a powerful atmosphere.  I was giddy to share the stage with the guys again…and I was floored by the generosity of those that attended…we raised $2,119.42 for our trip!

Basically, it was just awesome.

Seeing the guys brought a flood of memories, stories and laughs, tons of pizza rolls, and a genuine sense of joy…Guys like these are easy to get attached to…and I’m thankful for the impact they have had on my life.
